My name is Zenas Yiu. I am an National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Lecturer working in Evidence-based Dermatology and Pharmacoepidemiology based at the University of Manchester, UK, and an Honorary Consultant Dermatologist at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust.

I qualified in medicine from the University of Manchester, and was subsequently accepted into clinical-academic training in dermatology at the North Western Deanery, UK. My research interests lie in pharmacoepidemiology and evidence-based dermatology, and I take a particular interest in the evaluation of the safety and effectiveness of novel therapeutics for chronic inflammatory skin conditions. I was heavily involved in the systematic review process underpinning the evidence-based recommendations in the British Association of Dermatologists (BAD) guidelines for biologic therapy for psoriasis 2017 and the updated guidelines in 2020. I am an associate editor for the evidence-based dermatology section in the British Journal of Dermatology (BJD). I am part of the study team that set up the PsoProtect and PsoProtectMe registries, which collect important information on the impact of COVID-19 on patients with psoriasis, and was responsible for drafting the case report form for these registries. My current area of research aims to investigate the safety and effectiveness of biologic therapies for psoriasis, utilising the rich resource that is the British Association of Dermatologists Biologic Interventions Register (BADBIR).

In 2015, I was awarded a NIHR Doctoral Research Fellowship to pursue my doctorate degree investigating the risk of serious infection in patients with psoriasis on biologic therapies at the University of Manchester. I was awarded the Royal Society of Medicine Dermatology Trainee Research Prize in 2018, and the Royal College of Physicians Turner-Warwick Lectureship for the North West region in 2019 for my doctorate research.
